Committee hullabaloo

Yesterday we had committee presentations. I never knew there were so many committees on campus (arnd 25)! Every event that happens in IIML is completely student co-ordinated, and the fact that there are so many committees vouches for that. The most important committee is the Placement Committee (what else?!), which co-ordinates the final placements as well as the summer placements.
Other committees includes the Special Interest Groups like Marketing Committee, Strategy Committee, etc. The rest arrange talks by corporate personalities, maintain media relations, organise fests,organise social service campaigns, etc.
I applied for a few committees expecting to learn something from them.
I believe one should join the committee he/she is interested in, where he can learn something valuable for himself, whatever it may be. Adding bullet points to the CV should not be the driving force behind joining a committee (Inidentally, this was the point emphasized by all the committes).
